Shivering Denizens History.

The Shivering Denizens AA Zoom Group was founded on May 12, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic by David G. Prior to this, in April 2020, David initiated the AA Zoom Global Lists on Facebook, a platform that has since grown to over 70,000 members, providing a comprehensive directory of Zoom meetings worldwide.

David’s commitment to expanding virtual support led to the creation of several notable initiatives. He collaborated with Paul Hedderman from San Francisco to start the “Reflections on the 12 Steps” series. Additionally, he launched the Women’s International Marathon on Zoom, a continuous meeting exclusively for women. This platform has been instrumental in offering a safe and secure environment for women globally to share their experiences, strength, and hope, especially those in precarious situations.

Building on the success of the original Shivering Denizens meeting, David introduced the Shivering Beginners Meeting. This unique format combines shares from newcomers and seasoned members, culminating in a celebratory birthday count where participants don humorous hats.

Further expanding the group’s offerings, David, in collaboration with Christine P. from Scotland and Tenerife, initiated the Daily Shivering Steps Meeting. This daily session features guest speakers who share their personal stories related to the step of the day, with every 13th day dedicated to a tradition, before restarting the cycle from Step 1.

In September 2020, the Shivering Denizens 2 Meeting was established to cater specifically to participants from North America, Australia, and New Zealand. This meeting mirrors the format of the original Shivering Denizens, ensuring accessibility and support across various time zones.
